🎬MS Excel: How to add latest preview and beta features to Excel, and Using Python for the first time
Welcome to our MS Excel tutorial! In today`s session, we`ll explore how to access new MS Excel features before they`re officially released.
For instance, one of the latest additions is Python support for Excel, allowing us to use the PY function in our sheets. However, this feature might not be available in your current version of Excel.
To demonstrate, we`ll add random data to our Excel sheet, including dates and shop names, utilizing the random function for generating numbers. Unfortunately, using Python or other recent features may be restricted to the current channel.
To access these features early, consider opting for the Microsoft 365 Insider program. We`ll guide you through changing your update channel to the "Current Channel Preview," which includes preview features not available in the current channel.
Once you`ve successfully opted for the insider program, download the preview updates for MS Excel. Depending on your internet speed, this process might take some time. After the updates are downloaded and applied, your workbooks may need to close temporarily.
If you wish to be even more up-to-date, you can switch to the beta channel for updates. We`ll guide you through changing the channel in the account settings.
Once the beta updates are downloaded and applied, you`ll have access to the latest features. Now, you can enjoy the benefits of the beta channel, including using Python code in your Excel files.
We`ll demonstrate how to create a pivot table to summarize the data and then replicate the same summary using Python. After importing the Pandas library and defining variables, we`ll group the data by shop and create a summary.
Despite a small error, we`ll troubleshoot and execute the Python code, resulting in a summary similar to our pivot table.
In conclusion, by using the beta channel for updates, you can leverage the latest features in MS Excel. We hope you found this tutorial insightful. Don`t forget to like, subscribe, and hit the bell icon for more informative tutorials and updates. Thanks for watching!
